Event Description:
Fundraising in the US and Canada is not like other countries. In Australia, roughly 70% of all donated funds are transacted through an online form. In the US, it’s the opposite. The lion share of dollars is raised with a professional fundraiser involved. Yet, no one studies the fundraisers. Endless ink is poured out on donors and what makes them take action. But not enough attention is given to the other half of the fundraising relationship.
That’s why the team at Momentum conducted the first-ever study focused solely on the psychology of fundraisers. Our researchers, formerly behavioral psychologists from Duke University and the University of Colorado, surveyed 350 fundraisers, and their findings are both eye-opening and instructive for the entire sector.
In this session, we will sift through the most interesting insights gleaned from this study on the psychology of fundraisers. You’ll come away with benchmarks with which to compare yourself and your organization.
- Learning Outcome 1: Attendees will learn some of the top behavioral psych concepts that power the top fundraisers nationally.
- Learning Outcome 2: Attendees will know how to apply basic psychological concepts in their fundraising practice to raise more gifts.
- Learning Outcome 3: Attendees will understand the psychology that motivates their top donors.
